For Larchmont's Peridot, Uniquely Curated Jewelry Is Key To Success

LARCHMONT, N.Y. --  It's not many stores that can move three times, yet still maintain -- and grow -- their client base. Yet Peridot Fine Jewelry in Larchmont, has done just that.

The store, owned by Larchmont resident Dawn Hendricks, is about to celebrate its one-year-anniversary in its Palmer Avenue location. (The official day is August 21.)

Before that, the store spent 12 years on Larchmont Avenue; and eight years before that, in Greenwich.

Hendricks credits her success to meeting her clients' needs "with a modern take on classic jewelry that is uniquely curated and finely handcrafted by designers all over the world ... 'farm to table,' if you will," she said.

She said the reasons for moving over the years were mainly due to needing larger space to house the stores's growing administrative team, as well as offer more room for jewlery.

Another part of her business success is due to in-store events that engage the community. Up next: Larchmont Date Night, created by The Village Chamber on Thursday, July 23, where she will offer 15 percent off select items along with a glass of Kir Royale and a photo booth with props for guests to take a fun Polaroid shot.

"There's a lot of support in town from residents who clearly want to buy local," said Hendricks.

Among the items trending for summer: Turqouise and lapis necklaces along with Anne Sportun wrap bracelets that can be worn as either a necklace or bracelet. Also popular: Brave Bracelets handmade in Cambodia to fight human trafficking and support fair trade artisans.

Hendricks also mentions the popularity of alternative bridal rings as well as re-designs of diamond rings for women who want to freshen up their engagement ring.

And evergreen: Classic gold and diamond earrings from Caroline Ellen.

Designers -- "too numerous to mention," said Hendricks -- include Adina Reyter, Alice Roche, Cathy Waterman, Chan Luu, Karen Liberman, Margaret Solow, Moritz Glik, Rosanne Pugliese, Shy by Sydney Evan, Vintage Collection, Workhorse, and more.

Peridot is at 1903 Palmer Ave., (914) 833-7333, www.peridotfinejewelry.com/.
