The seasoned actor, writer, producer and stand-up comedian may live in Los Angeles now, but this born and bred New Yorker said he's very excited to be performing at Mamaroneck's Emelin Theater May 9. "Anytime I'm anywhere within a 30 mile radius of the City, I'm happy," he said.

His two-show event, one at 7:30 p.m. and another at 9:30 p.m. is akin to his old stand-up days where two shows in one night was routine, he said.

"People forget, because I took about 20 years off in between that I started my career as a stand-up comedian," he said. "It's how I think of myself, though, and what gives me a lot of energy and joy."

As to what audiences can expect? Reiser said he's pretty much "what you see is what you get," meaning that guy from "Mad About You,"  "Two Dads," and FX's "Married" will be at his most natural talking about the things that affect all middle-agers: Kids, marriage, career.

"Hopefully they’ll laugh," he said. "I find audiences come in and already feel like they know me. It's sortof like getting together with old friends. I feel like we've all been on a similar journey and so we have a lot of shared experiences."

He said the break between movie and TV projects -- right now he's working on the Amazon series "Red Oaks" by Steven Soderbergh, and a small indie comedy called "Miles" --  is a "nice balance" and reconnects him to his roots. "With a show, it can take a very long time; months and years from the time of the idea. But with standup, it's instantaneous and such a fun, alive place to be."

You can also see him later this year in "6 Miranda Drive," a thriller based on a true story where Reiser plays opposite Kevin Bacon and Lucy Fry. He also plays alongside Will Smith and Alec Baldwin in the 2016 movie "Concussion."
