Annual Pumpkin Patch Unloads Friday In Mamaroneck

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Mamaroneck is scheduled to receive and unload its annual pumpkin delivery from the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.

The pumpkins are grown at the Navajo Reservation, and made available to the church through the Pumpkin Patch USA organization. Pumpkin purchases help provide revenue for the tribe, and the pumpkins are used to form a “patch” at the parish house, where children can select a pumpkin to take home.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church is at the corner of West Boston Post Road and Mount Pleasant Avenue. The pumpkin patch hours are 1-5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Prices vary, depending on the pumpkin size.

Other churches involved are All Saints Episcopal in Harrison, Trinity Episcopal in New Rochelle and St. Johns Episcopal in Larchmont. Volunteers from each church will be assigned one week of working at the patch.

Proceeds will be divided among local charities of each church’s choice. St. Thomas’ share goes to suicide prevention and cancer care.
