FBI offers reward for info on bank robber

He all but smiled for the camera. A man in a Yankee cap walked into a Hackensack bank today, handed the teller a note demanding money, then walked out with an envelope stuffed with cash before hopping into a silver SUV with Jersey plates. But the FBI has surveillance shots that agents believe will help catch him. Oh, and there’s a reward.

Even the bureau admits the surveillance shots taken at around 12:20 at the TD Bank on Essex Street are “unusually clear.”

For those of you at home keeping score, the robber is described as white, late 20’s to early 0’s, unshaven, wearing the hat of the 2009 World Series champs. He was wearing dark pullover sweatshirt and baggy jeans.

A published account elsewhere says that anyone with information on the holdup “should” call Hackensack police.

Besides the value judgment, it’s incorrect If you have any information about the robbery, the FBI — the primary agency authorized to handle bank robberies in the country — asks that you  notify the nearest police officer or call the bureau’s New Jersey headdquarters at 973.792.3000.

DO NOT try to grab him yourself.

“To the right… the OTHER right.”
