Event To Offer Snapshot Of Southern Westchester Music Fest

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Fifteen world-class folk, alternative and indie bands will perform on Saturday, Sept. 19 at this year’s SOWE (Southern Westchester) Music Festival in Mamaroneck, according to the event’s organizers.

The fest runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Harbor Island Park. In addition to music, there will be wine, beer and food trucks available. The park is located at 124 Mamaroneck Ave.

A VIP Press Preview, planned for Thursday, Sept. 3 at the Captain Lawrence Tasting Room at 444 Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford, will offer a snapshot of the fest itself, with live music, beer and food. It is open to the public.

Doors for the preview open at 7 p.m.; live music starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information, email rich@sowemusicfestival.com.

Artists scheduled to perform at the fest are: Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals, Marc Cohn, David Johansen, Shawn Mullins, Willie Nile, Cheerleader, Steve Forbert, Kaleo, Anderson East, Andrew Belle, Joe D’Urso & Stone Caravan, The Heydaze, Thirdstory, East Love, and Karma Darwin.

Karma Darwin, winners of a local Battle of the Bands, curated by 107.1 The Peak, will also perform at the Sept. 3 preview.

The fest’s Family Fun Zone, sponsored by the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and Westchester Family magazine, will include bouncy castles, photo booths, giveaways, digital games, dodge ball, pottery making and a playground.

A portion of the proceeds from the fest will be used to fund birthday parties for critically ill and injured children at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital

Admission to the fest is free for children 12 and under.

The official festival after party will be at Molly Spillane's in Mamaroneck.
