Here's a rundown of upcoming programs:
This year, 3-to 5-year olds can take advantage of August Mini Camp weekdays, the mornings of Monday, Aug. 11 through the Friday, Aug. 22. Participants will have fun with science and nature and come away amazed by their discoveries as they explore the meadow, pond and forest, and learn about turtles, bugs, flowers, trees and everything else they find around the trails.
In early September, families can visit Sheldrake on Saturday mornings for Family Weekends.
In "Seeds, Seeds, Seeds," they’ll find all sorts of seeds that will turn into next year’s flowers and trees.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, patrons can participate in "Who Lives at Sheldrake" with a Sheldrake naturalist as their guide, they’ll learn where and how the animals who live at the Conservancy make their homes.
Sheldrake is preparing for its fall activities: International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 20, the Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct. 19 and the Compost Bin Sale and Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 25.
The Volunteer Environmental Educator Training program will also start on Thursday, Oct. 16. Currently, applications are being accepted from those interested in participating in this 12-session course.
An addition to the line-up this fall is the special event “Flavour of Italy" Prosecco Tasting Party on Tuesday, Oct. 21. An indoor event to benefit Sheldrake, it will help raise needed funds for the out-of-doors nature exploration programs the center offers.
