Historian Osborne To Talk Civil War At Larchmont Library

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- The Larchmont Public Library will take a look back at the Civil War and the role that Westchester played in the conflict that ended 150 years ago this April.

David Osborne, site manager with the St. Paul’s Church National Historic site, will discuss the church’s role in the civil war at 3 p.m. on June 19 at the Larchmont Public Library, 121 Larchmont Ave.

St. Paul’s Church, located at 897 S. Columbus Ave, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., is one of the New York state’s oldest churches, dating back to Colonial times. The church has served as a hospital during the Revolutionary War and has burial stones that date back to 1704. St. Paul’s has deep roots in the fight for the Freedom of Religion and Press and has seen its share of visitors from George Washington to Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Osborne’s program, St. Paul’s Church and the Civil War, will include a digital slide show exploring the role the church had during America’s bloodiest conflict.
