Jewish Home Lifecare Presents Its 12th Annual Palliative Care Conference

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Jewish Home Lifecare, which has a campus at  Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck will focus on patient capacity and the practice of palliative care at its 12th annual Palliative Care Conference on Wednesday, Nov. 12 – 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The event will be at The UJA Federation of New York- 130 East 59th St., 7th Floor, New York, N.Y.

The morning will feature two presentations from  Daniel Maher, a nurse practitioner specializing in geriatrics at RUSH University Medical Center and Erica F. Wood, assistant director of the American Bar Association’s Commission on Law and Aging. 

Wood will give a talk on patient capacity, i.e. neurophysiology and the legal issues involved in palliative care. Afterwards Nancy Berlinger, a health care ethicist from Yale will discuss the ethics of decision-making near the end of life. A Q&A will follow. After lunch, participants will break into small groups for case discussions after which Daniel Maher will wrap up the conference with a talk on how participants can apply what they have learned when they return to work.

Conference registration fee is $75. Student registration is $30 with valid ID. Registration fees include breakfast and lunch. Continuing Education Units are approved for the American Academy of Family Physicians (5.5) and The National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (5.25); pending for The National Association of Social Workers..  To register, visit https://jhlevents.org/PCC.
