The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a coastal flood advisory for Atlantic, Cape May, and Ocean counties. The advisory was put into effect until 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, but flooding is also possible Tuesday and Wednesday.

The NWS is forecasting minor flooding around Barnegat Bay in Barnegat Light during morning and evening high tides over the next two days. Minor flooding is also expected during the next two morning high tides in Atlantic City, Great Egg Harbor Bay in Ocean City, and Cape May Harbor.

"Spotty" minor flooding is also possible along the coast in parts of Cumberland and Monmouth counties.

Flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal communities and along inland tidal waterways, according to the NWS. Some roads may need to be partially or completely closed.

Forecasters said you should never drive through floodwater and you should take the necessary steps to protect flood-prone property.
