Larchmont Library To Feature Shelter Cat Photo Exhibit

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- The Larchmont Library will host a photography exhibit featuring pictures taken by Elisabeth Pollaert Smith of various cats looking for homes in the Larchmont and Mamaroneck area.

The exhibit will run through Aug. 30.

There will be a reception for Pollaert Smith on Saturday, July 27, from 2:30 p.m to 4 p.m. in the Oresman Gallery. The reception is also free and everyone is welcome.

According to a news release, the “Shelter Cats” exhibit is the photographer’s way of calling attention to the many wonderful cats who need homes right here in the Larchmont/Mamaroneck local area.

Pollaert Smith, a former international corporate lawyer, began taking photos seriously almost a decade ago. She has studied photography at the London College of Printing in the United Kingdom and at the International Center of Photography in both New York and New Mexico. She is a four-time finalist for Popular Photography magazine’s “Your Best Shot” competition, and a finalist in the World Wildlife Fund’s, “Life Grows On” competition, and is represented by Getty Images.

She also teaches photography in Mamaroneck and participated in the Larchmont Historical Society‘s “Day in the Life of Larchmont” exhibit, in Larchmont. She is a member of the Mamaroneck Artists’ Guild and the Southern Vermont Arts Center and has been a Larchmont resident for just over five years.
