Larchmont Throws 125th Anniversary Bash

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Larchmont's 125th anniversary weekend, Sept. 23-25 will be a huge party.

The festivities will begin Friday, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m. at Larchmont Avenue Church Russell Hall, where "The Victorian Lady" will be presented by the town's historical society and women's club.

It will be an opportunity for visitors (10 and older) to learn about fashion, lifestyle, manners and etiquette of women in 1891 from performance artist Kandie Carle.

Following the presentation is the Larchmont 125 Founders Cocktail Party (by invitation only) from 6-7:30 p.m Click here to become a sponsor and attend the party.

Then on Saturday, Sept. 24, from noon-4 p.m., the second annual Larchmont Day Street Festival will feature contests, games, food trucks and live performances. Among the highlights, there will be the annual Big Trucks Day between Boston Post Road and Cherry Avenue.

Also Saturday, the annual Arts Festival on Larchmont Avenue at Constitution Park will run until 5 p.m.

The day ends with The Great Party, Larchmont’s 125th anniversary gala, from 7-11 p.m. in Murray Hall at St. John’s Church, 4 Fountain Square. Tickets are $65 per person and $125 per couple.

Sunday's festivities start at 1 p.m. at Constitution Park with the Larchmont 125th commemoration, including the park groundbreaking deremony, the installation of the sesquicentennials, time capsule interment and ice cream social.

At the same time, the Historical Society presents the Larchmont Fire History Museum Tent. Both events conclude at 3 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

Pianist Nina Kuzma-Sapiejewska will play classical selections at Larchmont the Beautiful at Larchmont Temple from 3-5 p.m. Tickets are $25.

The Historical Society and Manor Park Society will present “Silent Clowns on the Beach," 7-8 p.m. at Manor Park Beach, where the audience gets a glimpse of the village’s cinematic past with a showing of film and comedy shorts and music accompaniment by Ben Model.

Afterward, the weekend comes to a close with Sailboat Parade of Lights, sponsored by Horseshoe Harbor Yacht Club, 8-9 p.m. at Larchmont Harbor.

Both evening events are free and open to the public.
