MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Board of Education's Community Listening Tour begins Wednesday, Nov. 19, with its first stop at Mamaroneck Avenue School.
All community members are welcome. The Board of Education encourages residents to consider attending the meeting that is being held at the elementary school for which children are zoned; however, if that is not possible, residents are welcome to choose one of the other meetings to attend. The listening tour meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. on the following dates:
- Wednesday, Nov. 19 -- Mamaroneck Avenue School.
- Wednesday, Jan. 7 -- Chatsworth Avenue School.
- Thursday, Jan. 15 -- Murray Avenue School.
- Tuesday, Jan. 27 -- Central School.
The purpose of these meetings is for board members and the superintendent to hear community members’ thoughts about the educational experience of Mamaroneck students – what you value, what’s working and ongoing challenges.
These meetings will not include discussion of a school-based health center model. A school-based health center task force -- made up of administrators, school board members, parent representatives and a district nurse -- is researching what health needs, if any, exist among the elementary school population and whether a school-based health center could meet those needs.
The task force will present its findings to the board at a public meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 20, and at another meeting before that (date to be announced) to receive community input.
