MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Singer and songwriter Mary Fahl, who gained fame as lead singer and co-founder of the mid-1990s chamber-pop group October Project, brings her music to historic St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Mamaroneck for an Oct. 17 benefit concert.

Scheduled for 8 p.m. at the church, 168 West Boston Post Road, the concert is a way to raise money for the Brown Bag Lunch Program of Trinity-St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Rochelle. It is sponsored jointly by the Episcopal Churches of the South Shore.

Tickets for “An Evening with Mary Fahl” are $25 in advance through Eventbrite or $30 (cash only) at the door. All of the proceeds will go to the lunch program, which is a volunteer-run operation serving lunch to people in need each weekday.

Organizers say it is a unique opportunity for fans of modern American folk-pop music to enjoy it in the venue of the historic church. St. Thomas Church sits on a hill overlooking Long Island Sound and dates back to 1884. Its neo-gothic buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Since her October Project days, Fahl has recorded solo albums for Sony Classical and V2 Records, and has written and performed songs for several major motion pictures, including the lead song, “Going Home,” for the Civil War movie "Gods and Generals." This upcoming solo performance features a number of those songs, several new works, numerous October Project songs, and selections from her album named for her version of "Dark Side of the Moon."
