MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Mamaroneck Shares will host its third of four summer block parties on Mamaroneck Avenue in the heart of the village Aug. 16.
Founded in 2010 by Mike Hynes, Peggy Jackson and Ellen Hauptman, Mamaroneck Shares throws block parties to raise money for local charities. Almost $71,000 has been raised the previous three years for various organizations.
This year, Mamaroneck Shares' block parties are raising money for "At Home on the Sound," enhancing the lives of people 60 and older in Mamaroneck and Larchmont, "keep aBreast," a local team supporting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and "South East Consortium," which is dedicated to providing recreation programs and leisure services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and special needs.
The block party features food vendors from various local restaurants and games and activities for the whole family.
