MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- From the 39th Annual Shakespeare Festival to an educational film about the importance of eliminating single-use plastic bags, there are plenty of events in Mamaroneck and Larchmont this weekend.

Mamaroneck High School Shakespeare Festival: 8 p.m. The Semi-Royal Shakespeare Company, the oldest continuous high school Shakespeare troupe in the United States, is putting on its 39th year of performances in Mamaroneck. Nearly 100 students are participating in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "The Winter's Tale." Tickets are $8 for students and $12 for adults. Shows take place in the Hommocks Auditorium and run through March 10. Visit the website for more performance information and exact schedule. The Vienna Boys' Choir at The Emelin Theatre: 8 p.m. Boys have been singing at the court of the Holy Roman Emperor since the early 15th century. In 1498, Emperor Maximilian I moved his court and his court musicians to Vienna. He gave instructions that there were to be six singing boys among his musicians. Today, there are 100 choristers ages 10 to 14, divided into four touring choirs. Tickets are $60 or $49 in advance. The Emelin Theatre is located at 153 Library Lane in Mamaroneck.

'Bag It' Screening at the Mamaroneck Public Library: 2 p.m. At the end of the month, Mamaroneck will become the second town in Westchester to ban the distribution of single-use plastic bags to reduce waste and protect our coastal wildlife. As part of a Villagewide effort to educate businesses and residents, the Village of Mamaroneck Committee for the environment will host a free screening of 'Bag It,' Susan Beraza’s award-winning documentary investigating plastics and their effect on our waterways, oceans and our bodies. There will be light refreshments, and reusable bags will be given out. Mayor Norman Rosenblum, Trustee Ilissa Miller and others will answer your questions about the ban. The Mamaroneck Public Library is located at 136 Prospect Avenue in Mamaroneck.
