What To Do In Mamaroneck, Larchmont This Weekend

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- From student performances and youth book discussions to a comedy show and farmers' market, there are plenty of events this weekend in Mamaroneck and Larchmont.

Friday, March 1

Young Critics Club: 6-7:15 p.m. Join other book lovers ages 8-11 to discuss favorite books and take home free copies of not-yet-published books. A $10 cost grants admission, pizza and soda/juice. Reservations please. The Voracious Reader is at 1997 Palmer Ave., Larchmont.

The Irish Comedy Tour at the Emelin Theatre: 8 p.m. The Irish Comedy Tour takes the party atmosphere of a Dublin pub and combines it with a boisterous, belly laugh trio. $15 students; $29 advanced; $32 day of show. The Emelin Theatre is at 153 Library Lane, Mamaroneck.

"The Full Monty: at the Westchester Sandbox Theatre: 8 p.m. With a contemporary rock score by David Yazbek and a book by Terrence McNally based on the original motion picture, "The Full Monty" will make you scream with laughter while also tugging at your heartstrings. Show continues through March 10. Tickets are $28 or $24 for students or seniors. Call 914-630-0804 for tickets. The Westchester Sandbox Theatre is at 931C E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck.

"Soundscapes" at Mamaroneck High School: The PACE department presents "Soundscapes," its only all-music show of the school year. The show, which continues through Saturday, is almost entirely student written and directed. Shows take place in the PACE Auditorium on the Palmer Avenue side of Mamaroneck High School. Tickets are $5.

Cycling for Pediatric Cancer Foundation: 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Mamaroneck-based Pediatric Cancer Foundation is having its 2nd annual Spinathon to raise awareness and money for childhood cancer. $30 for adults; $20 for kids. Spinning sessions are as follows: 7:30am-8:15am; 8:45am-9:30am; 10am-10:45am; 11:15am to noon; 1pm-1:45pm; 2:15pm-3pm. There are 35 bikes per session on a first-come, first-served basis or reserve a cycle by enrolling at: pcfclub.briarcliff@gmail.com. The Spinathon takes place at SpinSational Fitness Studio, 450 N. State Road, Briarcliff Manor.

Mamaroneck Winter Farmers Market: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shoppers will find tables of fresh lettuce, kale, herbs, root vegetables and more from local farmers and food producers. Other market offerings include fresh seafood, local meats, breads, baked goods, pickles and hand-crafted foods. Indoors at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 168 W. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck.

Senior Art Show at the Larchmont Public Library: 2:30 p.m. Meet local artists at the Annual Senior Art Show, "Spring, New Beginning," at the Oresman Gallery. The Larchmont Public Library is at 121 Larchmont Ave., Larchmont. 

Preservation Hall Jazz Band at The Emelin Theatre: 8 p.m. For more than 50 years, the world-famous band has preserved the heritage of both New Orleans traditional and Dixieland jazz with its joyful, timeless spirit and vibrant music. You’ll be dancing in the aisles when the band brings its legendary sound to the Emelin. Tickets are $75.
