City Limits Diner In White Plains Vies For Top Spot In DVlicious Contest

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-- Who can resist the cozy booth of a diner? If you’re not drawn in by the often retro ambiance, you’re no doubt driven by the menu, mammoth undertakings filled with pages and pages of comfort food, not to mention unlimited cups of coffee.

Been Around Since: 1994

Known For: Its family-friendly atmosphere and upscale setting complete with a wide selection of comforting, sophisticated dishes—from house smoked meats to gourmet pastries. Chef Peter Assue and Pastry Chef Tracy Kamperdyk Assue only the highest-quality ingredients in from-scratch preparations, resulting in satisfying and diverse menu offerings for breakfast (all-day), lunch, and dinner. A few popular items include lump Crab-Lobster Cake Benedict, Orange Lemon Waffle. Allen Brothers Steaks and House-Smoked Atlantic Salmon as well as the rotating array of seasonal pies.

Behind the Scenes: The restaurant is owned and operated by the Armonk-based Livanos Family and has another location in Stamford, Conn. The White Plains location, known for many years for its iconic oversized coffee cup atop the diner before it was renovated in 2012, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
