While he encourages people to participate and add their own stamp to their events, he strongly urges folks to hire someone -- especially for a wedding -- so they can relax and enjoy their party -- and let someone else deal with the details.

Lopolito, who has been managing events for many years, said said most people have no idea of the demand and the difficulties that exist with planning a big celebration. "The time that it takes to create, locate vendors, negotiate, build, and manage an event will be two fold or more for someone that does not have this experience," he said.

Also, many times do-it yourselfers select the wrong venue (and vendors) because they do not know how to judge size, catering ability, staffing ability, and other things that determine the right fit.

"I guarantee that anyone doing this themselves will spend more money than they should without professional experience," he said. "Even when you are paying a professional planner thousands of dollars, their support saves thousands for a mistake free event. Negotiating pricing and vendor contracts is an art."

Lopolito, who services clients throughout Westchester and the Hudson Valley, admits he never gravitates towards one locale because it all comes down to individuality. Said Lopolito: "I feel the venue must represent the size of the event and the characteristics of what the client sees in their dream."
