At least those are the thoughts Jason Daniels, COO of Half Time, the world’s largest retailer of domestic and international beers, with stores in Mamaroneck and Poughkeepsie.

Here, he offers his thoughts on pairing the best beers with what you may be cooking up this holiday.

A burger with bacon and bleu cheese deserves Ithaca Flower Power: This elegant and traditional India Pale Ale from Ithaca Beer Company is thirst quenching with a fruity, floral flavor that complements the heartier burger taste, said Daniels.

Pulled pork sandwich and Smoke & Dagger: The smokey malt of this dark beer, from Jack’s Abby Brewing in MA., blends nicely with the flavor of the barbecued pork.

Spinach salad with local apple slices, dried cranberries and a vinaigrette dressing plus St. Bernardus Tripel: There's always someone at your barbecue who wants lighter fare and so this medium colored beer from Belgium strikes a nice balance between sweet and sour. It echoes the transition from summer into fall.
