We asked for your top picks for our DVlicious "Best Soup in Westchester County" contest and whittled it down to five finalists. Each has been profiled this week with the winner selected Monday, Feb. 22. Here’s a “bowl-ful” rundown on one of them.

Melt Sandwich Shop, 277 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains, (914) 358-1364

Number of Soups Offered: Three to four soups daily. Expect to find vegetarian tomato basil and the green chili, which can be ordered vegetarian or with pork; the rest rotate and vary with the seasons. Other examples of what's on the menu: Butternut Squash with Kale and Chicken, a Split Pea with Smoked Bacon, Curry Chicken, Italian Sausage with Cavatelle and Broccoli Rabe, Schezuan Chicken with Rice, and Corn and Potato Chowder with Chicken.

Worth Dishing About: Chef/Owner Bill Hall makes Melt's soups from scratch every day based on what he can get in the market that morning. Said wife Kristin, who also runs the shop with him: "We have heard so many times that our soups are more like stews and should be called a meal, not a side!"
