Assunta Marsella, 81, Mamaroneck H.S. Matron

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Assunta Marsella of Mamaroneck died Thursday, May 10. She was 81.

Born Oct. 2, 1930, in Roccasecca, Italy, she was the daughter of Antonio and Pasqua Grimaldi Castiglia. Marsella worked as a matron for Mamaroneck High School.

She is survived by three daughters, Rita (Debbie Frieder) Marsella, Carol (Jeff) Melkonian and Mary (Marino) Pignataro; two sons, John (Sue) Marsella and Tommaso (Megan) Marsella; two sisters, Domenica Esposito and Vincenzina Falco; a brother-in-law, Ascenzio (Louisa) Marsella; and 15 grandchildren.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home in Mamaroneck. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Vito's Church in Mamaroneck. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.
