Ex-Larchmont Banker, John Judge Dies at 80

LARCHMONT, N.Y. - John Hubert Judge, formerly of Larchmont, died Nov. 6, with his family at his side. He was 80. A memorial service will be held in Larchmont on Dec. 3.

Most recently of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Judge was born Feb. 19, 1931 in New York City to the late Hubert Arthur Judge and Muriel McCloud Judge. He attended Trinity-Pawling School and graduated from Williams College in 1953. Judge served as an officer on a naval destroyer escort in the US Navy during the Korean War.

After his service, he worked for the First National Bank in New York until his retirement in 1980. While living in New York, he was an avid sailor and would race his Herreshoff S-Boat on the Long Island Sound. in June 2011, he was inducted into the Herreshoff Marine Museum Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I.

Judge retired to South Carolina with his wife in 1986 and became a member of the Hilton Head Island Barbershoppers for over 20 years. He was also he lead singer in the Calabogie Sound Quartet and member of the Country Club for Hilton Head and Bear Creek Golf Club.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Frances Judge, his daughters Nancy Judge Sommi and Patricia M. Treasurer, his sister Margaret Hudge Dooley and five grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held on Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Larchmont. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory handled arrangements.
