Five Questions For Larchmont Man About Rye

RYE, N.Y. -- Wickford Welden, 56, works as an insurance underwriter in New York City and lives in Larchmont, but comes to Rye to exercise at the YMCA and to work on writing fiction. He said he dreams of being a world famous writer. The Daily Rye sat down with Welden to ask him five questions about Rye.

Q: What do you like most about being in Rye?

A: "It's quiet. I can't stand noisy people and loud music."

Q: Where is your favorite place to eat?

A: "Patisserie Salzburg. I like to get their chocolate croissant. I'm quite indulgent."

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Rye?

A: "Swimming at the YMCA. That's the main reason I come here."

Q: What is one of your fondest memories here?

A: "Just the experience of siting here in the warm weather and writing."

Q: If you could change one thing about Rye, what would it be and why?

A: "I would make housing here more affordable. I would like to live here, but it's outrageously expensive."
