MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Chef Johnson may not have won the grand prize in the Food Network's street vendor competition, but the charming Cajun cook is now featured in a colorful interview on its website.
Fans voted for their favorite street vendors between Jan. 5 and Jan. 31, with the grand prize winner receiving a segment featuring them on the show Eat St . Johnson finished with the most votes in the U.S., but the third most overall. An outfit based out of Ontario, Canada called Gorilla Cheese (4,127 votes) and Alberta, Canada's Wescott Country Kitchen (3,305), finished first and second respectively in the fan voting.
Wednesday, the Food Network selected its grand prize winner, Gorilla Cheese, from the top five Fan Favorites, all of which won a write-up on the Eat St. blog, including a biography, pictures and their video. Johnson's write-up was posted Wednesday on the Eat St. blog.
Asked about his "incredibly addictive vernacular", Johnson told the Food Network in his phonetic use of the alphabet, "Free yo mind and yo Johnson will follow. It's liberatin, ya'll."
