LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Former Larchmont-Mamaroneck TV Summer Filmmaking Workshop consultant Deirdre Fishel and her partner Tony Heriza are filming a documentary about aging and the care all seniors need.

The documentary "CARE" highlights the problems within the current elder care system.

Fishel said "CARE" is the first documentary to bring the flaws in the current elder care system to light. Fishel and Heriza hope to convey their message by detailing the experiences of two families grappling with the struggle to make ends meet.

"Tony and I have been passionately making this film for two years. Our commitment to get it made, and out in the world, comes from our experience with our own parents and their powerful desire to age at home with dignity," Fishel said in a statement. "But right now too many elders and their families can't afford the care they need, and too many workers live at the poverty line.

"CARE" has already received grants from the MacArthur and Ford Foundations but they need help in finishing the project.

They've started a Kickstarter campaign in an effort to meet those financial needs.
