MAMARONECK, N.Y. – James “Jim” Marsh Thomson, 52, of Mamaroneck, died April 9 after a long illness, surrounded by family and friends.

Raised in Hamden, Conn., Thomson graduated from Hamden Hall Country Day School in 1979 and from Trinity College, in Hartford, Conn, in 1983. Though he had a successful career working in New York City, he was most proud of his volunteer work in his community.

Thomson was passionate about the University Club of Larchmont, where he was president, and working the grounds of Community Unitarian Church of White Plains.

The son of the late Charlotte Ann Chase Thomson, he is survived by three children, Diana Grace, David Chase and Catherine Annie Thomson, of New Rochelle; a brother, Robert Chase (Darlene) Thomson, of Durham, Conn., and several relatives, including the mother of his children, Jamie Mongiello Mooney, and Daniel and Shelly Baitch.

There will be a private ceremony at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Sinai Medical Center of New York, or The National Marrow Donor Program
