LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- What do a local television anchor, a fashion icon's brother, an FM radio executive, a school head master and a contractor have in common? They're all part of a rock and roll band called “Sway” that plays in a host of venues around Southern Westchester.

They are performing Saturday, Dec. 20, at Spectators in New Rochelle as part of a Toys for Tots Holiday party.

The band was founded in 2011 by Andy Hilfiger, Larchmont resident and brother of designer Tommy Hilfiger, and Ted Utz, Hilfiger's neighbor, native Larchmonter and vice president/general manager of Heritage American FM stations who claims to have "music in his blood."

It also features other suburban dads including lead vocalist Lou Young, an Emmy-award winning television news journalist on WCBS, Tory Ridder, Larchmont resident and Owner of The School of Rock in Mamaroneck, and Mike Bishop, a Larchmont-based contractor.

Directed by complementary songwriting visions, the collaboration of Hilfiger, Utz and Young has evolved over the years, combining a strong sense of melody and a gimmick-free approach to songcraft. Sway’s first, self-titled album, released earlier this year, features five original songs and also includes a cover of the Alice Cooper classic, “I’m Eighteen,” which is a personal favorite of the band. The album was produced by another Larchmonter, Chach Cacinovic.

Sway is scheduled to perform on Jan. 24 at Dudley’s in New Rochelle and on Feb. 28 at Chat 19. Said Hilfiger: “We love to play in New York, but out here it’s a different vibe. It’s looser and fun to play in front of friends and family. In the city, it’s 70 minutes and we’re done. In the burbs we play all night!”
