Larchmont Library Thanks Community For Help On Sandy Book Drive

MAMARONECK, N.Y. - The Mamaroneck  Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. Letters may be emailed to mamaroneck@dailyvoice.com.

To the editor:

The Larchmont Public Library would like to thank the community for their generosity which made our book drive a terrific success.

A four-day book drive to help two libraries, Averne Community Library and Peninsula Community Library, was held in early December.

These two libraries in Queens lost their entire children’s collections during Hurricane Sandy. The community’s donations of new and gently used books will help to rebuild those collections.

The book drive was so successful that we filled 130 boxes with books for newborns to sixth graders.  We would also like to thank Findlay International for the donation of boxes and their services to deliver the books to Queens.

Again many thanks to the community!
