LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Andrea Seward goes to the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce sidewalk sales every year.
"This is fun," the Larchmont resident said. "You see people you know walking around and it's fun to see what they have out."
Seward stopped at Stephanie's Kloset Thursday, where Tammy Minoff was "just wandering around," with her father in tow.
Minoff, who grew up in Larchmont, is an actress in West Hollywood, where she said sidewalk sales don't really exist. At Stephanie's Kloset, she found a V-neck shirt that read "Larchmont."
The Larchmont Chamber of Commerce has held sidewalk sales in June and September for the past three years, said Maryann Mancino of Mancino Custom Tailoring.
"It generates traffic," said Mancino, whose husband Tony is the owner of the clothing store and member of the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce. "We always get new customers from it."
A brief rain shower Thursday afternoon drove the participating businesses along Palmer Avenue inside for 10 minutes until the rain let up.
The sidewalk sale will run all day through Saturday.
"I love it," said Paula Wilensky, who browsed Mancino's outdoor selection of fine clothing and jackets for the fall. "It's a good thing for the community and it brings people out."
