Larchmont Veteran and Author Bishop Dies at 94

LARCHMONT, N.Y. - Robert W. Bishop died at his home in Larchmont on Nov. 24. He was 94.

Born in Quebec, Canada on Nov. 10, 1917, he was the son of Joseph and Adelena Bishop. He came to the U.S. as a young boy.

Bishop served in the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army and went on to co-author "Soldiers on Skis" in 1992. A book about his division, the only one to train troops for mountain warfare, it featured a foreword from Sen. Bob Dole.

He established and ran a photo-retouching business for many years and worked with several famous photographers.

Bishop is survived by his wife Dona, his daughter Linda, his sons Chris, Michael with his wife Sophie and Billy with his wife Allison, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont.
