The pair, known professionally as Murphy Brothers Contracting, was selected by the Food Bank for their service in aiding survivors rebuild homes lost to Hurricane Sandy in Breezy Point and The Rockaways, in New York City.

“An Evening in Good Taste,” will be held Oct. 17 at 1133 Westchester Ave. in White Plains. The event raises money to end childhood hunger in Westchester County. More than 30 restaurants will participate, and attendance is expected to reach 700.

“We are thrilled that Chris and Sean Murphy are lending us their time and energy to co-chair one of our highest-attendance events each year,” said Ellen Lynch, executive director of the Food Bank for Westchester.

She said, “Chris and Sean are a dynamic team and are dedicated to raising awareness and dollars for this cause. We know that with them involved, the event will be even more successful than ever before.”

Christopher Murphy, president of Murphy Brothers Contracting, said “As natives of Westchester and long-time members of the business community here, we believe in giving back to our neighbors. We were shocked to find out how widespread hunger has become in Westchester, one of the wealthiest counties in the country.”

According to the Food Bank, one in five residents of Westchester is hungry or at-risk of being hungry; of those almost 200,000 people, one-third are children.

“We are committed to helping the Food Bank for Westchester raise awareness of this issue and look forward to a successful event,” Murphy said.

Tickets are $200/person and sponsorships are available. For information, call Katy Coppinger at 914-923-1100 or visit www.foodbankforwestchester.org.
