Mamaroneck Chemical Engineer, Dundee, Dies at 96

MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Ben Dundee, of Mamaroneck, died Feb. 4 at the age of 96.

He was born Dec. 9, 1915 in London, England to Louis and Eva Dundee before moving to Arthur Avenue in Bronx, N.Y. as a child. Dundee graduated from City College of New York with a degree in chemical engineering. He worked on the Manhattan Project and traveled the world designing and building chemical solvent recovery plants.

Dundee's joys were classical music, literature, swimming, playing chess and tennis and festive occasions with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eligia, his step-daughter Eugenia (Gerard) Juliano, his son David (Betty) Dundee, his step-son Richard Lorenti and his partner Andrew Flatt, a brother-in-law and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Frances Cabrini Shrine, 701 Fort Washington Avenue, New York, NY 10040.
