Mamaroneck DPW Worker DelVecchio Honored Wednesday

MAMARONECK, N.Y. - A funeral service will be held on Wednesday for a Mamaroneck Department of Public Works employee who was struck by a town truck on Friday.

Robert DelVecchio, Jr. died of the injuries he suffered during the accident at 40 Maxwell Road. A town highway worker since 2002 and dedicated public servant of Mamaroneck, he was 35.  

He was born on Jul. 4, 1976 to Robert and Patricia DelVecchio and graduated from Harrison High School in 1994. DelVecchio volunteered for Harrison Ambulance Corp. as well as the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department. He also worked for Sea Tow and The Cruisers Division. 

Delvecchio is survived by his wife Melanie (Gironda), his son Milo Creadore DelVecchio, his mother Sandy Gironda and her husband Mario, his brothers Todd (Jessie) DelVecchio, Michael A. DelVecchio, Mario Gironda, Jr. and Matthew French and his sisters Robin (Patrick) McCarron and Erica (Doug) Lotten.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home in Mamaroneck. The funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Vito's Roman Catholic Church in Mamaroneck, followed by interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.

The Mamaroneck Town Center Offices will close on Wednesday morning between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. to allow town employees to attend the services. The offices will reopen at noon.
