MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Bruce S. McNichols, a radio and television personality of Mamaroneck, died Feb. 16 at home after suffering a stroke. He was 72.

The son of Michael and Ethel McNichols, he was born in Oceanside, N.Y. on April 6, 1939. McNichols was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1957 to 1961. A professional musician, he was president of Muskrat Productions in Mamaroneck.

McNichols appeared regularly on LMC-TV and was featured in 390 episodes of "It'll Get Better." After a hiatus, he appeared in "Still Trying," which recorded its 100th episode on Feb. 8. Along with his band-mate, Henry Newberger, he performed on stage at Emelin Theater for LMC-TV award nights and at holiday parties.

"Countless volunteers have passed through LMC-TV as crew persons for his shows," said executive director of LMC-TV, Erik Lewis. "Bruce will be deeply missed by all of us here at LMC-TV."

McNichols also worked as program director for Radio OKOM, where he was featured as sidekick in "Jim Lowe & Company" on a nationally-syndicated radio program.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Lynne Herzog, his daughter Brett Lando and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home in Mamaroneck. Committal will be private.

According to his daughter, the family hopes to celebrate a memorial service at a later date.
