MAMARONECK, N.Y. - The artwork of a student of the Mamaroneck Senior Center's weekly art class will be featured in the Mamaroneck Town Center through August.
The artist, Ruth Rutchik, paints with acrylics and describes her work as “very colorful and stylistic. Each painting has a story to tell the viewer,” she added.
Rutchik studied art at the University of Rhode Island. She said she rediscovered her passion during free weekly art classes at the Mamaroneck Senior Center.
“Our teacher inspires us to produce to the best of our ability,” Rutchik said. “She helps us grow and stretch our talent in a really positive atmosphere. It’s fun to watch the many different artistic styles of the students – and we all encourage each other."
The art classes are held on Wednesday afternoons at the Senior Center, 1288 Boston Post Road, Larchmont. Students must provide their own art supplies. The class is taught by Patricia Miner-Sutherland. Rutchik’s works are framed and on exhibit through August at the Mamaroneck Town Center, 740 West Boston Post Road, and are available for sale.
