MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Carly Rose Sonenclar, the 13-year-old "X Factor" contestant from Mamaroneck, received the second-most votes from viewers for the second straight week and made it into the Top 10 Thursday night.
Celebrity judges, national audiences and hometown fans rallied in support of the local teenager after her performance of "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion the night before .
Host Mario Lopez said that less than one third of a percent of the vote separated Sonenclar from the No. 1 spot held for two straight weeks by 37-year-old country singer Tate Stevens.
Locally, friends and fans took to painting windows at DCH Toyota City on East Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck, urging residents to vote. A large group also cheered for Sonenclar at Chat 19 on Chatsworth Avenue in Larchmont on Wednesday night.
One friend said that Sonenclar had a very good chance of winning. "She's doing amazing," Nadine Eenkema Van Dijk told Fox NY in an interview. "Even though she has a little disadvantage because she's younger, I think because of her talent, she might win. I think she's going to win."
