MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Mamaroneck teenager Carly Rose Sonenclar will continue the diva streak with a Beyonce song when she returns to "X Factor" on Wednesday night.
After being voted No. 1 by viewers last week, Sonenclar will sing "If I Were A Boy." She has previously covered songs by Adele, Celine Dion and Nina Simone.
Sonenclar told "X Factor" that she wanted to return to a more sentimental song after her performance of an Adele chart-topper last week kept her at No. 1 for the second week in a row.
"Last week I did ‘Rolling In the Deep,’ and I was trying to show attitude in that song," she said. "This week, I think that it's more important to kind of show emotion."
Sonenclar also told "X Factor" that her classmates at Rye Neck Middle School have been supportive of her during the competition and that she would remain a performer even if she didn’t have a great singing voice.
Week after week, judges have commended Sonenclar on the control of her voice and her maturity for a 13-year-old, with judges Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell going so far as to jokingly call her an "alien."
In a video interview with Young Hollywood, Sonenclar said she and her "X Factor" mentor Britney Spears agreed that after getting great feedback on ballads, it was time to sing newer songs.
"I think it's just going to be about that now for the rest of the competition," Sonenclar said. "It's finding a balance between these contemporary songs and these big songs that [judges] liked."
"X Factor" returns to Fox at 8 p.m. Wednesday, when Sonenclar will compete against the rest of the Top 6 for a $5 million recording contract.
