MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Gilbert "Jim" Merenda, Jr., of Mamaroneck. died Nov. 28 after a long and debilitating illness. He was 74.
Born Feb. 16, 1937, Merenda served in the Army from 1955 to 1958. A member of Local 11 Carpenters Union, he was considered one of the best frame carpenters there. Merenda's favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing, landscaping and painting.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jacqueline, his brother Michael, a sister, brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Sts. John & Paul Church in Larchmont, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Petrillo officiating.
