“We are thrilled and grateful to have reached the million dollar mark this past week,” said Angela Eaves, chair of the Transformation Fundraising Committee, in a press release. “Of course, we still have work to do. With everyone’s support, we will complete the task of raising $1.5 million, and ensure that the library remains a vital community resource for many years to come.”

The main library building has not been renovated since 1994, and its annual operating budget does not cover a campaign of this scope, according to a press release. The transformation project by the Library Board of Trustees is in response to the increasing demands for new technologies and services, according to a press release.

Some rooms in the project will be re-purposed to improve flow, lighting and furniture and will include electrical upgrades, according to a press release. Plans from architectural firm Lothrop and Associates include a young adult space, tutoring rooms and a technology area with computers, work stations, charging docks, a business center, instruction room and laptop bar, according to a press release.
