Lyons, 73 and a resident of White Plains, began working at the Hospital in 1966 as the first registrar to be employed in the Emergency Department. She held that position for 15 years before moving to Nursing Administration where she has worked as a scheduling coordinator for the last 35 years.

Leigh Anne McMahon, RN, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, remarked on Lyons longevity within the organization, “Sheran has been an ideal representative of our mission to provide exceptional care to the community over these many years,” she said. “We have been so incredibly fortunate to benefit from her loyalty and dedication to this Hospital.”

Lyons was honored during a ceremony recognizing White Plains Hospital employees for years of service during National Hospital Week, an annual period of recognition for hospital workers that was launched by the American Hospital Association nearly a century ago. Overall, more than 500 employees were recognized for tenures at the organization ranging from three to years.

“Years ago, I set a personal goal of giving 50 years of service to White Plains Hospital,” Lyons said. “The Hospital is so special to me, and I feel very blessed to achieve that goal.”
