Young, Former Larchmont Retail Buyer, Dies at 87

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Phyllis B. Young, of Larchmont, died Feb. 28 at the age of 87.

A resident of Larchmont since 1970, Young was active in several organizations. She served locally as an officer for the Larchmont Avenue Church, Philanthropic Education Organization and The Woman's Club of Larchmont.

Born March 9, 1934, Young was raised on an apple orchard in Westport, Conn. She went on to attend Brown University, receiving the "Brown Bear" award for support as an alumna. She worked for Lord & Taylor in New York City and as an assistant buyer for Henri Bendel. Young also enjoyed watercolors and traveling with her husband. 

She is survived by her husband W.F. Young, her son Andrew (Noel) Young, her sister Martha (R.L.) Ordeman of Dayton, Ohio and three granddaughters. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on March 10 at Larchmont Avenue Church. A reception will immediately follow at the church hall after the service. Funeral arrangements are under John J. Fox Funeral Home.
