MAMARONECK, N.Y. – An estimated 3,057 out of 5,259 Con Edison customers are without power in the town of Mamaroneck Friday morning as of 5 a.m., down from 3,126 Thursday morning, according to outage maps. In addition, an estimated 2,842 out of 8,704 Con Edison customers are also without power in the village of Mamaroneck.

Officials with Con Edison initially said Thursday evening customers could expect power restoration by Nov. 9, however, by Friday morning those estimates were pushed back to Nov. 11.

Back-up crews specializing in tree cutting, repairing overhead lines and underground equipment, as well as damage assessment, are arriving in Westchester for assignment, the company indicated.

“Con Edison is marshalling resources from near and far to conduct the largest customer restoration in its history,” said Con Edison officials in a press release. “Contractors and mutual aid crews have been arriving or are en route from across the country.”

Authorities are asking customers to report outages and downed wires to Con Edison and not through local emergency service lines. Customers can call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers are asked to have their Con Edison account numbers available and report whether their neighbors also have lost power. Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available, according to a press release. ??

More than 139,000 customers out of 348,198 total customers served by Con Ed in Westchester are out of power as of 5 a.m. Friday, down from more than 165,000 customers Thursday morning.

The previous record number of storm outages in Con Edison territory occurred in 2011, when Hurricane Irene caused about 203,000 customers to lose service, according to the release.
