Car Topples Into Mamaroneck Home Foundation, Person Escapes Serious Injury

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- A car fell into a partially dug foundation Friday night, sending one person to New Rochelle Hospital.

Town of Mamaroneck fire officials and an officer with the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps said one person escaped serious injury after being rescued from the car, which got stuck in a hole on a dark driveway at 66 Sherwood Drive.

Firefighters from Larchmont and Mamaroneck responded shortly before 10 p.m.

The hole was part of a foundation for a new home adjoining the driveway.

A deputy chief with the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department said the person's injuries were not considered serious.

No other details were available Saturday.
