MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Singer Carly Rose Sonenclar led a parade down Mamaroneck Avenue Sunday afternoon in celebration of her recent international success. Carly’s Angels, The Starlighters, Applause, the Mamaroneck Fire Department, Police Department, EMS, school teams, and hundreds of fans took part in the procession or came out to watch and honor her.

"This is the Village of Mamaroneck's welcome to a local hero who happens to be an international icon and has come to be an ambassador of good will," Mayor Norman Rosenblum said. "She helps make Mamaroneck great and we want to show our appreciation."

The 13-year-old runner up in Fox's "X Factor" led the parade with Rosenblum from Jefferson Avenue to Prospect Avenue, where she then spoke to the crowd from reviewing stands across the street from Molly Spillane's.

Between moments of loud cheers erupting from the crowd, Sonenclar thanked the Village of Mamaroneck and the mayor for organizing the parade.

"To everybody who voted, everybody who painted the windows, everybody who made a poster or made fan art, everybody who went to Chat 19 or Stepinac, and the principal and teachers at Rye Neck who helped me with my schoolwork, the businesses who donated so much, the local women who did so much, anybody who did anything, all I can say is that it felt great to know that you took time out of your day for me," she said from the stands.

Rosenblum also read a long statement on behalf of Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino, in which he called Sonenclar a source of pride for the entire community. "You have brought a touch of magic to Westchester through your love of singing and music," he said.

On top of getting two days dedicated to and named after her -- Dec. 19 for the Village of Mamaroneck and Jan. 27 for all of Westchester County -- Sonenclar was presented with an official key to the Village by the mayor and the Board of Trustees.

After the parade, a private party took place for Sonenclar and her family and friends at Molly Spillane's. A line of girls gathered outside in the cold asking police officers how they could get in to talk to the young star.

Both of Sonenclar's grandmothers waited upstairs for her to arrive. "We're just so proud," said Shirley Edelman, grandmother on her mother's side. "What can we say? In our hearts, she won. It's hard for me to believe she's gotten so far at 13."

Sonenclar signed autographs and posed for photos with fans. "It's amazing to be here," she said. "Everyone has been so supportive, and just seeing them all come out to show their support -- I will never ever forget that feeling."
