Drunk Driver Damages Parked Cars in Mamaroneck

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Village of Mamaroneck police charged a Harrison man, 25, with a DWI after he veered off the road hitting a parked car on 158 W. Boston Post Rd near Harbor Island Aug. 7. Four other parked and unoccupied cars were struck due to the chain reaction caused by the crash. The 31-year-old passenger from Harrison was treated on the scene for a minor laceration and burn to the leg.

The following items were reported in the Village of Mamaroneck Police blotter between Aug. 5 and Aug. 10

V + T Complaint: A White Plains man, 19, was charged Aug. 9 with driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana after police stopped him at 10:26 p.m. for a traffic violation. The four passengers in the car were also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Accident Vehicle: A car was struck while parked and unoccupied on Palmer Avenue Aug. 9. The other vehicle was reportedly backing up.

Accident Vehicle: A Port Chester man, 34, driving a 2000 Toyota, was rear ended by a 2004 Acura while driving on Halstead Avenue Aug. 8. He was taken to Sound Shore Hospital with head and back pain.

Larceny: An iPod was taken from a vehicle on Pine Knoll Lane Aug. 8. The approximate value of the item is $250.

Arrest: A Harrison man, 51, was charged Aug. 8 with a DWI after a traffic stop on E Boston Post Road for a moving violation.

Property Damage: Police received a report Aug. 7 of a teenager kicking a soccer ball that hit the caller's car, damaging the windshield and antenna. The caller was driving northbound on Mamaroneck Avenue toward Raleigh Road when the ball struck his car. Police couldn't find the teenager, which the caller described as a white male wearing no shirt and light-colored shorts.

Complaint: An unknown child made prank phone calls Aug. 6 to a Madison Street resident, who reported it to the police. Police responded to the complaint to find a youth had made several calls to her cell phone, as well as other random phone numbers. The office called back the number and advised the youth not to call the complainant, who was satisfied by their response.

Criminal Mischief: Police received a report Aug. 6 of a broken window at Avenue Bagel Cafe on 227 Mamaroneck Ave. It is unknown who or what caused the damage.

V + T Arrest: A Bronx female, 32, was charged with a DWI after a traffic stop for a moving violation on Aug. 6.
