According to the National Weather Service, heavy rains are expected Wednesday, causing possible "flash urban and small stream flooding." A flash flood watch is in effect from Wednesday evening through late Wednesday night.
"While rainfalls of 1 to 2 inches do not typically reach levels that cause flooding in the village of Mamarneck, we are issuing this caution because our present weather follows an extended period of cold weather, which means the ground will not be able to absorb much water and flooding could occur at levels of lower rainfall," Slingerland said.
As of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, this was not a "warning" advisory, but a "watch."
