MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Mamaroneck Shares co-founders Peggy Jackson and Ellen Hauptmann proudly presented $7,500 checks to four Mamaroneck charities at Tuesday's village Board of Trustees meeting.
The charitable organization raised a total of $35,000 this summer from their four block parties, which shut down Mamaroneck Avenue from Halstead Avenue to Route 1. Mike Hynes, owner of Molly Spillane's Pub, is also a co-founder.
"It's exactly what we wanted it to be," Jackson said.
The proceeds were donated to Mamaroneck Emergency Medical Services, At Home on the Sound, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and Keep aBreast, for which Hauptmann is co-chair. The remaining $5,000 was retained for next year's events.
"We raised a lot of money this year, and now we're starting to think about next year," Jackson said.
