The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 61-year-old Robert Furman, who has moved to a residence on May Street in New Rochelle.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Furman a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Furman had deviate sexual intercourse and sexual contact with his female victim in Mount Vernon in October 1978. Furman was convicted of first-degree rape in May 1982 and sentenced to 15 to 30 years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the New Rochelle City Police Department.
