MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Construction workers upgraded the front entrance to Mamaroneck Avenue School while students were home for the Columbus Day holiday Monday.
Fourmen Construction took advantage of the holiday to replace the elementary school's Mamaroneck Avenue entrance, said James Seckler, foreman for the one-day project.
George McNally, director of facilities for the Mamaroneck School District, requested the upgrade from the Peekskill-based company, which conducted emergency repairs to the building's exterior over the summer.
Work on the front entrance briefly blocked one lane of south-bound traffic on Mamaroneck Avenue while pouring the cement.
