The inspector, who was reportedly wearing the proper safety gear, was taken to Westchester Medical Center, treated and held for monitoring.

As a result of the injury, all construction work will be stopped in the village until consulting engineers and the project contractor meet with with representatives from the New York State Department of Transportation, according to Slingerland's statement.

"Work may not proceed until the NYS DOT lifts the stop-work order," Slingerland said in the statement. "We hope to resume construction as soon as possible."
